What makes a great golf cart?
Several key factors need to be considered when evaluating the best golf cart brands of 2024. An excellent golf cart should be durable enough to withstand daily use and the elements. A smooth ride, ample legroom, and padded seats are also essential for comfort. Features such as ample storage, cup holders, and easy entry and exit are critical to functionality. The concept of eco-friendliness is gaining traction, with electric and solar-powered models reducing their environmental impact. Price is always an important factor, balancing quality with affordability.
Best Golf Carts 2024
The perfect golf cart balances these elements, providing golfers, residential communities, and commercial operations with a reliable, comfortable, and practical mode of transportation. For the ultimate golf cart experience, the top brands of 2024 excel in these areas.
Golf carts are getting better and better as the electric vehicle revolution continues! With the quality and beauty of their new golf cart designs, manufacturers continue to push the boundaries of industrial design.

The Best Golf Carts of 2024
1.Club Car Onward HP
With its HP and HP Li-Ion Club Car Onwards, Club Car continues to push the envelope with its HP and HP Li-Ion carts. With Onward HP Li-Ion golf carts, you'll get lightweight aluminum frames, 29HP motors, 3.1kWh lithium batteries, 375 amp controllers, premium seats and bodies, 6-year battery warranties, and automotive-style headlights and taillights.
In 2024, Club Car Onward carts will come standard with 10-inch premium golf wheels. Kenda tires are mounted on factory-installed premium 12-inch or 14-inch wheels (shown above). The cart's front and rear seats have thicker, higher-quality deluxe seat pads.
Onward's front fascia features thick, injection-molded, contoured plastic panels. In order to remain competitive, Club Car will update the front end next year.
In lieu of the Onward HP (standard electric), HP Li-Ion golf carts (lithium batteries) are recommended. Your cart can benefit from lithium batteries in many ways. Lithium batteries offer faster charging times, longer charging times, and lighter batteries (only 1/4 the weight of regular golf cart batteries). Read All About Lithium Golf Cart Batteries to learn more about lithium golf cart batteries.
For a two-seater, the suggested retail price is $13,155, and for a four-seater, $14,380.
2. EZGO LIBERTY LSV ELiTE
The 2024 EZGO Liberty LSV takes second place. This golf cart meets all your needs. In 2022, it certainly raised the bar for other manufacturers, and with further improvements last season, it is ready to meet all the needs of customers looking to buy a new cart in 2024.
LIBERTY was the first golf cart/LSV with four forward-facing seats. EZGO said they would "push things in a new direction." Since then, four other manufacturers have offered this format.
As an ELiTE lithium-ion cart, it comes standard with a Samsung SDI lithium battery system. This battery unit provides consistent power regardless of its charge level. In just one hour, it can be charged to 80%. In addition to its excellent powertrain, the EZGO Liberty also offers:
· Each of the four premium seats facing forward has a standard seatbelt
· Pedestrian warning system (to avoid hitting them)
· Camera for backup
· Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are optional infotainment systems
· The interior is equipped with illuminated cup holders, a premium steering wheel, a glove box door, floor mats, and a shelf.
The only downside to LIBERTY is its price. A reliable used car can cost over $20,000 with options and sales tax. While more and more people use carts instead of cars to get around the neighborhood every day, the LIBERTY represents real value for money. The base Liberty (non-LSV) is similar in many ways and starts at $15,899.
MSRP starts at $18,999

3. ICON i40F
ICON i40 series moves up to #3 on the list from #4. Four forward-facing seats are a common theme on this year's list! It's a great value and has everything you need in your community. The styling of some competitors (like Yamaha) has recently been overtaken by new brands like EVOLUTION and big brands like Club Car and EZGO. These golf carts continue to impress us with their value for money. From 2017 to 2022, ICON offered premium products at a lower price. Despite still looking fresh, their cart design language is 6 years old and starting to look dated.
A 48-volt battery, a 5-kW 3-phase high-torque motor, an ICON 450A controller, and four forward-facing seats are standard on the 2023 ICON i40F and i40FL golf carts. Additional features of the i40F and FL (lift and drop) include:
· Headlights with automotive-style turn signals
· The on-board charger (OBC)
· A digital speedometer and diagnostic readouts
· Disc brakes from the factory
· There is a wide variety of standard paint colors available
With their low MSRPs and great value, ICON's i40F and i40FL are truly hard to beat.
MSRP starts at $11,199
4. Evolution D5
Corona, California-based Evolution EV really dominated the golf cart industry in 2023. Since then, Evolution D5 carts have replaced old carts all over the country.
As well as looking great, the D5 offers a great value.
The D5 comes with a steel tube frame, a 9-inch touchscreen with a rear camera, and 4-way forward and 4-way backward compatibility.
· There is a USB outlet and a Bluetooth-enabled sound bar
· An auto-cancelling LED turn signal mirror
· There are four-wheel disc brakes, as well as a built-in aftercooler
· Featuring an industry-leading 48v lithium golf cart battery with 110AH
The vehicle's top speed is 25 mph, according to company officials. Also included are a premium steering wheel, PPG paint, and premium 14-inch golf cart wheels and tires.
With its 7-foot wheelbase, the D5 offers a smoother ride than most carts. Riders of all sizes will also benefit from the tilt steering wheel.
We like everything about the new Evolution D5. Their first model (the Evolution Classic) looked a little cheap, but the D5 is impressive and likely to stick around. This new golf cart has something for everyone. A brand new lithium-ion golf cart can be purchased for less than $12,000.
There is an MSRP of $11,995.
5. EZGO Freedom RXV
Fifth on our list is the EZGO Freedom RXV golf cart. In 2008, EZGO introduced the RXV golf cart to the market. It is a reliable platform that can be used at home or on the course. In 2024, EZGO will introduce a completely redesigned RXV and Valor series. New low-profile headlights with daytime running LEDs (optional upgrade) are available as well as premium seating and rear benches. The all-new Freedom RXV will be available in 2024 with an ELiTE Lithium 56-volt or an EX1 Gas 4-stroke, 150cc drivetrain. Despite being both great options, lithium batteries remain the preferred choice. Additionally, the Samsung SDI lithium battery system in the LIBERTY is maintenance-free.
Among the features of the all-new 2024 model are:
· Fully independent front suspension
· Floating pedals (no more pedals attached to the floor)
· There are four cup holders in the center of the dashboard, which has been completely redesigned
· Dual USB ports integrated into the dashboard (5V / 2amp)
· There are several new colors, including Ocean Gray
· A new honeycomb floor
The RXV is a practical and high-quality cart that has upscale looks and a smooth ride.
Prices start at $10,299 (Lithium or Gas).
6. Yamaha Drive-2
Where does a Yamaha golf cart fit on this list? Now you know! The Yamaha Drive-2 drops from #5 to #6 on our 2024 list.
In the rapidly changing world of golf cart styling, Yamaha has not yet revamped the look of its best-selling golf cart. In comparison to newer Club Car, EZGO & Evolution, or ICON offerings...the Yamaha Drive2 falls short. If Yamaha doesn't update its styling next year, they might fall off our list entirely.
Yamaha remains one of the world's top golf cart manufacturers. Yamaha's excellent, affordable, and reliable carts are available with a variety of accessories. By 2024, the Japanese giant will offer a lithium battery option for this cart. Due to its stale overall design language (particularly when compared to Club Car and EZGO), Yamaha falls back in our rankings this year.
The Yamaha QuieTech EFI (Quiet Electronic Fuel Injection) engine is still available on this gas golf cart. QuieTech EFI is the quietest gas golf cart ever, with the lowest decibel output. This powerplant allows the Yamaha Drive2 to achieve up to 45mpg, which is 23% better than the previous Yamaha Drive (G29). Gas cart owners have no other option but to fuel up on the go rather than wait for a charge. Some of our customers prefer gas golf carts.
Because the Drive2 has been around for a few years and is not much different in design from the G29/DRIVE model it replaces, it also has a large selection of aftermarket accessories. Last but not least, Yamaha Drive2 (and older Drive/G29) carts can also fit tires up to 20.5 inches straight from the factory.
Three MSRP options are available: $9,481 (gas), $10,161 (electric), and $12,616 (lithium battery).
7. Club Car CRU
Club Car's CRU golf cart makes its first appearance on our list at #7. I really like this car, but it's very expensive. You get some of the coolest features a golf cart can offer in exchange for its high price. With its open-air design, center table, street legality, and more, the CRU will turn heads wherever it goes. It's very stable on the road, and it's easy to maneuver over grass and trails.
The CRU was designed as follows by BMW Designworks:
· Six passengers can be accommodated by the 72-volt 10HP continuous motor
· An electric power steering golf cart with a peak motor of 30 horsepower (a first)
· Rear suspension with coil springs, independent front suspension with double A-arms
· As an option, Bluetooth speakers and windshield wipers are available
· Four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes power 215/50R14 radial golf cart tires
Only one complaint we have about the CRU: it's somewhere between a golf cart and a car. Particularly in terms of price. With its incredibly cool features, it's a lot more fun to drive around town than a car, but it is definitely not cheap!
(electric only) Prices start at $24,995.
8. EZGO Valor
The EZGO Valor is a stripped-down version of the Freedom RXV. The VALOR design is similar to #5 on our list, but it isn't as upgraded as the Freedom RXV. VALOR is designed primarily for golfers or those who use their carts on the course. It's still a great golf cart, though!
Valor comes in four colors and two powertrain options:
· Powertrain with 48-volt AC
· EX1 closed-loop EFI gas engine
Rather than spending money upfront on the Freedom RXV, buy the no-frills EZGO Valor first and upgrade it later.
MSRP: $8,649
9. STAR Capella 2+2
This year, the CAPELLA takes the spotlight over its sibling the Star EV Sirius golf cart.
A smooth ride is provided by the independent front suspension of the Capella. A touchscreen center display is built into the Capella for 2024, and it features color-matched seats, a thick and comfortable steering wheel, and a drainable foam-lined cooler.
Carts from this brand have been around for years. That's a big difference from many new carts on the market! Buying from brands that have been around for at least five years is extremely important. Newer brands may promise you the moon, but will they keep their word (and honor your warranty)? The Capella model was introduced by STAR EV in 2017 and has been in business since 2003.
This year, the cart will again be available with Lithium Batteries. Directly from the manufacturer, Capella offers the following features:
· The speedometer/dashboard is a full color digital display in the style of an automobile
· The roof and automotive paint are color-matched
· LED turn signals with self-canceling side mirror indicators
· An insulated trunk with a drainable cooler
· Double A-arm suspension
The starting price is $11,995.
10. Club Car Tempo
Today, there are over 30 brands of golf carts available. Number 10 on our list is the Club Car Tempo. It is Club Car's newest fleet cart offering (primarily for golf courses). Tempo replaced the outgoing Precedent model in 2020 and improved Club Car's golf course offering with a new cowl, more comfortable seats, and Club Car's famous aluminum frame. It is used as a fleet cart by many golf courses across the country. Used Club Car Tempo models are usually affordable because they are widely used by country clubs nationwide.
The Tempo is available in gas (14HP, 429cc Kohler 4-cycle EFI), electric (48V DC), and lithium-ion (4.7hp AC). You can customize your Club Car Tempo golf cart with a variety of upgrades and golf cart accessories. This car (and all Club Car models) is an excellent choice if you live in a coastal area where salt can damage golf carts.
Our list of 2024 staples includes the Tempo for these reasons.
Starting at $14,295 MSRP
Conclusion
A real game changer is coming to the golf cart market in 2024! We have seen over a dozen new brands enter the market in the past year alone. Industry giants like Club Car and EZGO must continue to innovate in order to improve their products. ICON and Evolution EV have challenged the status quo and brought healthy competition to the market. Even between these two new giants, the gap is widening in Evolution's favor.
Compiling this list took three months, including customer feedback and ride time with all of the vehicles mentioned above. It is worth mentioning that other products (from Kandi Karts, Tomberlin, Cushman, etc.) did not make this year's list. To make sure you can spend your money wisely, we keep an eye on all the golf cart products on the market throughout the year. In 2025, we can't wait to see what else is on the horizon!
